We met each other in 2004 at Radio Amateur Union of Northern Greece HQ and simultaneously  built up a strong friendship. We discussed about various radio amateur items and we came up with the same solutions,  while at the same time we set new goals and dreams for the future.    SV2FPU Giannis, SV2HNZ Babis, SV2HPP Nikos, SV2HPY Giannis, added their powers to bring a fresh breeze to radio amateur status in Greece.  

The calendar shows May 1^st 2006, Monday and that was our start… The team name it is also the name of Thessaloniki’s town symbol  ‘’WHITE TOWER’’ DX TEAM. From the title someone  can recognize the team's spirit 

• WHITE : Pure, Symbol of virtue 

• TOWER : Castle, Structure, Tall, Imposing

• DX : Communication, Long distance communication, Activation

• TEAM : Group, Collectivity, Common efforts 
  

This is how our foundations were built and the first sample of our team work  was given in June 2006.Between 22 and 27 of June the antennas of White Tower Dx Team were beaming from Samothraki island (IOTA EU 174), with the use of Special Hellenic Prefix J48WhiteTower.8178 QSOs into these  poor ionospheric conditions.   Upon our return from the island we imagined the growth of our team. The White Tower Dx Team make bigger, stronger and develops. In our ‘ham spirit family’ placing with  the following hams : SV2HSV – Dimitris, SV0XAW (Also AI4PP) – Peter, SV2HOB – Christos, SV2HRT – Paul.   In the next autumn the team is an ‘’ eight persons crew’’ and we were established ‘’the Wednesday meeting’’, for discussion  and to make plans for the upcoming future.  

Next WTDXT activity were the participation  in CQ WW SSB 2006 Contest (28-29 Oct 2006), used the Special Hellenic Prefix (WTDXT Contest Call) ‘J42WhiteTower’.We were runned the contest from Babis (SV2HNZ) 2^nd qth (N.Triglia Chalkidiki), and during the 48 hrs contest we worked among others one clear DXCC (106 countries). Simultaneous two different  hams magazines (RADIOMAGAZINE and SV NEWS), wrote about the annual official WTDXT iota dxpedition in 2006 (Samothraki isl. – J48WT).  

The story sequel is of course , one more ‘’Contest participation’’ between 3-4 March 2007, ARRL INTERNATIONAL DX SSB CONTEST, with nice results.   Our team, restless and creative continues to set new rules and limits to radio amateur status. Organizing the yearly official  WTDXT iota dxpedition,  is the next ‘mark map’ (Hi Hi) for us and all the necessary preparation doing well.
