The island of Skyros
The
island of Skyros is the island that is in the southernmost part of
North Sporades; it's the biggest island of this cluster of islands,
with an extent of 215 t km and its resident population is about 2.600
people.
The
island is halfway or so from the east coasts of Euboea, in a distance
of 23 miles north-east from Kymi. Skyros belongs, for administrative
purposes, to the Prefecture of Euboea.
It's
an island having many hours of sunlight and its climate is very fresh;
that makes the island an ideal place for vacations. The island is
famous for its lovely sandy beaches and its clean waters.
The
biggest build-up area is the village (Chora) which is called Skyros and
it's the capital city of the island. There are many seaside build-up
areas, in the island, such as Atsitsa, Magazia, Molos, Kalamitsa,
Acherounes, Pefkos, etc.
The
island of Skyros was first inhabited during the Neolithic Age
(5.500-2.800 BC); it's an island rich in history and there are many
antiquities, from the age-long period to the Byzantine times.

- The scenic cobbled roads, the ancient castle, and the monastery of St. George are some of these sights too.
- The houses of Skyros that are built with a certain technique and each one of them looks like a small museum.

of the Neolithic build-up area that can be seen in Palamari.
- The sunset and the pinewoods towards Atsitsa and Marmaro.

imposing spectacle of "the Mountain" with the continuous alternation of
shadings due to the ground's morphology and folding, in the south part
of the island.
- The big natural harbour in the bight of Tris Boukes.
- The sea caves, the sandy coasts and the piney beaches.
